WSJ consider bloggers are fools

by

WSJ assistant editorial features editor Joseph Rago writes in his new article “The Blog Mob” that “Blogs are written by fools to be read by imbeciles“. Rogo start the column with sarcasm by pointing out how blogs are so important that even Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has one.  Why not? He is a dictator but that doesn’t mean he can not express his own thought (even if it’s propaganda), a lot better than seeking child pornos by US legislators, isn’t it? Mr. Rogo  said–

The blogs are not as significant as their self-endeared curators would like to think. Journalism requires journalists, who are at least fitfully confronting the digital age. The bloggers, for their part, produce minimal reportage. Instead, they ride along with the MSM like remora fish on the bellies of sharks, picking at the scraps.

Next he moves into blowing blogosphere’s sense of self importance, in fact i consider his this column was self pity. Bloggers were also blamed for short editorials and picking up pieces from Mainstream media. B2B Insight’s Ephraim Cohen published a wonderful article on this.

In my opinion Mr. Joseph Rago lost it within his own words. He should be ashamed of himself, where is his elite professional courtesy?

Since WSJ full stories are for subscribers only, you might want to read Joseph Rago’s partial article here.

I wouldn’t be so dismissive of Rago’s underlying point. I happen to agree with much of it, after you take away his pompous analysis. I threw you a link as well.

  2. Kamrul Says:

Sorry K T I don’t agree with you. Rogo is a old relic, trying to hold what is lost. Blogging isn’t a traditional journalism, so its way odd to compare two of them. Blogging is expressing what other people think, other then journalists(Because no way WSJ or other newspaper care what these common people think).

Second he says Iran’s President have a blog, so what what is the problem with that? Rogo maybe a Journalist (Good in His own trade), but he has serious attitude problem.

We(Blogger) never said we don’t need MSM, but Rogo have to come out of his dream that people also need Blogging as well as MSM. i quote you from technarti’s matt “There are 50 million blogs, some of it have to be better”.

The reason of blogging is not alternating MSM, reason is better conception from many, rather then some handful of person. Otherwise we always have to listen to what people like Rogo think.
