TechCrunch added discussion forums
Two days ago TechCrunch “quietly” launched discussion forums (TechCruch Forums), in order to build better relationship with readers. Well though Mike said quietly but in blogosphere very few things goes quietly (The announcement got 104 comments, 12 trackback, without mine so far-not so quite after all :P). Anyway Mike said about this launch-
…we want to be able to expand the conversation beyond whatever posts are fresh at a given time. The Forums is the place to do that.
Create a thread on any topic you like. This is a good place to pitch your new startup or product if it hasn’t been featured yet on TechCrunch (or even if it has), share tips with the community, spread rumors, or endlessly debate the definition (or existence) of Web 2.0. When interesting conversations spring up, we’ll link to them from the main TechCrunch blog.
A smart decision by Mike to get rid of rain of startup pitch mails requesting to be featured. You don’t need a wild imagination to visualize that especially for a blog network like TechCrunch it’s natural to get tons of e-mail. Now they can easily handle those request without having full inbox. A wise move by Mike to maintain the balance.
Mike also said dedicated versions of “TechCrunch Forums” will be added to other blogs in TechCruch network, very soon.
