Six Aprt’s new barbie “VOX?

by Kamrul

Six Apart Ltd. launched its invitational blogging service. It’s free, but you do need invitation. Those bloggers who are tired of coding, or wants to avoid that coding part and concentrate on writing Vox is for them.

Vox is more like a merge between a social network and a blogging. Six Apart is taking a nasty style to promote it, by restricting it invitation basis just like early Google mail. Though you can still take a so called tour inside Vox and also request for an invitation.

Looks like it combines features like Audio, video, images, quick posts and bring simplicity, but remain lack of customization. Those who like to stand apart certainly won’t like Six Apart’s new Barbie.

With six aparts attention to style and detail, they probably don’t want it to become another ugly-as-you-want-it-to-be version of Myspace. Looks interesting though, thanks for the link!

  2. Kamrul Says:

In fact kieth it has all some ugly features of myspace, some from yahoo’s 360 and some from blogpost. You can say a mixed fruit cake.

  3. Keith Says:

Lol. I was thinking more in terms of the visual aesthetic, but I see you point.

  4. Kamrul Says:

As i can see its easy to use, but no customization.
So you can’t expect to be unique with this VOX. Another point is when all the tools are at one place, it more like a useless jungle than a garden.:P

  5. Keith Says:

I suspect that they will find an audience though. there are a lot of people that aren’t tech savvy that would enjoy a tool that lets them get posting online with little effort. I’m a ‘Own my own domain’ kinda guy, so this is definitely not a service I’d use.
