Pledge for Blog Honor

by

There no certain manifesto of blogging standard or code of conducts for bloggers. But that does not imply that blogger’s are loose canon, actually they do follow some unwritten ethics of blog. Lately through out blogosphere there was a storm of debates about blogging for money- specially those where blogger can’t disclose that sponsored posts. PayPerPost isn’t the only which pays for bogging posts, there are more and more coming out. But some of them do allow disclosing the fact; means allow you to say that your particular post is sponsored.

In the debate both parties have points. According to half, there is no difference between getting paid for blogging by showing ads and writing about sponsored product/services in posts. Other half believes that this kind of practice like blogging about sponsoring products without discloser is pollution of blogosphere. It’s not only corrupting the influence but also clouded the judgment of blogger.

As you can see I am of on the second half. Yes I definitely support blogger’s earn money for their blog, in fact should earn a lot more than they do now. I myself earn money through blogging, a lot of we do but different way. We earn through showing Google’s Adsense, Chikita eMinimall, Amazon etc. ads in our blogs, or some high profile blogger’s show their sponsored company ads. But as you can see every ads has a corner or edge mentioning- Ads by Google, or bidvertiser or the sponsors name. Means readers know exactly which one is ads and which one is blog writing. I believe my reader’s come to me because they trust my judgment, research & analysis. So if I do not disclose the ads section, they will consider those as my recommendation or similar stuffs, thus I am misleading them and taking advantage of their trusts. Blog has outspoken the main stream media, for its sincerity and ability to generate trust relationship with readers. But if we blogger’s started to destroy that sincerity and credibility’s blogosphere will remain the “online diary stuff?, will never be something like mainstream media.

That’s why it’s about time people like Jim Kukral, publisher of ReveNews.com and founder of the BlogKits Affiliate Marketing Blogging Network recently started Blog Honor Pledge. The principles are very straight forward. Even Blog Herald’s famous Martin Neumann expressed similar sort of view. I know a lot of top blogger will take the Pledge, since it’s about saving the very thing that can save blogosphere.
