Manage Your Time and Your Posting Schedule With a Regular Blogging Day

by Sheryl Sisk

You know that old saw about how, if you want something done, you should give it to a busy person? I’m the annoying one who inspired it. OK, not really, but I’ve been labeled (with varying degrees of affection) a “type A+,” “Battery Bunny Girl,” and “crazy.” (That last one actually might not have anything to do with the topic of time management but … I digress.)

I’ve got six blogs running, planning a seventh (also planning to kill a couple but not this one, never fear). I run a small business out of my home, and I am a writer. I’m also a single mom, and I’m learning to play the violin. How do I manage to get the posts in on time?

Two words: Blogging. Day.

Try this: instead, of trying to capture 20 minutes a day, set aside one day (or half a day) out of your schedule and devote it to blogging. The theory underlying this approach is that sometimes, it’s easier to rearrange whole blocks of time as opposed to carving out bits and pieces here and there on a random basis. Also, when you write something down in your schedule (planner, calendar, planning software, whatever), it becomes a little more “official” - a touch more “real.” It becomes, in short, an obligation (in the best sense).

Start by collecting your topics throughout the week. Get in the habit of dumping bookmarks into a .TXT file or some other capture tool (I use Stikkit - easy, sits in the toolbar, web-based so it travels with me depending on the machine I’m on). This way, you have a pool of potential topics from which to choose on Blogging Day.

Next, select a few that really get the juices going. Write your posts. Aim for speed the first round drafts - later on, revise them and polish them up one by one. Then, schedule them in an order that makes sense to you. Most blogging platforms will offer the ability to postdate a post so it’ll be scheduled to post automatically at the specified time and date.

Then sit back and gloat in your Type A glory.

Hi folks

Just trapped on a little tool to slice website images.
Quick in preparing ready html from simple single-image site design.
Program is rather crappy and cheap (especially comparing to similar function in PhotoShop).
But! Just look what books come as a bonus:

Search Engine Optimization: An Hour a Day
Web Design in a Nutshell, 3rd Edition
Webmaster in a Nutshell, 3rd Edition
etc…

I wonder how $270 priced books can be sold for just 20 dollars…
Anyway here’s link: http://www.sliceimage.com/

Hope these books will help you as well.

PS: Don’t forget to click on the links in my signature in reward ;)

Regards,
Mark
