Google goes into space
NASA made a formal agreement with search engine giant Google in order to make massive collection of images and data about Earth and outer space, publicly accessible. According to agreement Google will publish NASA’s mission based images and data. You will be surprised that NASA has a ambition to provide live broadcast from the surface of moon or even outer space right in Google.
The agreement was officially announced at NASA’s Ames Research Center in California. Google had previously announced plans to build a million-square-foot facility at the research park. Too bad NASA ruled out the possibility that Google will exclusively host these images/data, they may go into deal with other Internet giants too. Under the arrangement, Ames will provide Google with its weather forecasting information, three-dimensional maps of the moon and Mars, and real-time tracking of the international space station and space shuttle flights.
There is indication that Google might as well will financially support some related projects at the agency.
This is very good indeed, considering the loads of Data will be available on Google, not to mention the size of traffic it will attract. Yahoo!’s attempt to communicate alien was too much science fiction, looks like Google is trying to approach more scientific/practical manner for space domination.
