Google annoced Landing page quality update
Google is making some changes in its AdWords thus affecting the AdSense. As far I read and understand from their blog two changes will be brought. The first is that Google will be “improving the algorithm for evaluating landing page quality and incorporating landing page content retrieved by the AdWords system.” The second is that AdSense publishers will see the impact of the landing page quality score, since AdSense is closely tied with AdWords.
Google now spidering landing pages and comparing content to keywords to determine relevancy. There are many interesting implications. Do you currently block bots from any of your landing pages? That could cause a real problem. Is Google watching how many users hit the back button? That’s what it sounds like. This announcement also implies that quality score only affects whether ads have the opportunity to compete in the auction, and what the minimum bid must be. Quality score does not affect ad positioning. As before, click through rate continues to affect ad positioning. As they said:
Not for Google search. While one’s landing page quality is directly correlated with the minimum bid required for one’s ads to run, it does not affect your ads position (or ‘rank’, as it is often referred to) at all. However, since there is no minimum bid requirement for contextually-targeted ads, low quality landing pages will result in the need to bid higher to compete in the auction, which could also impact your position on pages in the network.
Google, AdWords, Adsense, Landing Page, quality score
