Globally blogosphere didn’t grow
Last week and week before that I had came across with numerous articles on whether blog is booming. According to mainstream media (such as BBC) and top industry analysts, blogging has peaked in 2006.
But somewhat i disagree their conclusion. Blogging has peaked but not globally. If your are counting number of MySpace and Google’s blogger accounts and trying to draw a conclusion, that will be a big mistake. Consider the dead blogs, i also have blogger account as well as MySpace, which i didn’t use for years. There are many blogs lying around through out blogosphere those are as good as dead. Next you should consider the origin of bloggers, out of every five new blogs three is created by old bloggers and two by new bloggers. Not only that out of five, four blogger comes from western (especially US and Canada) countries. It’s true that Blogging has peaked up quite a ground on China and India (but hey those two countries have two third population of the world, so still the numbers of bloggers are way too small to even consider that as a trend for those countries). So in whole Asia continent we see rising number of bloggers from- China (considering Hong Kong too), India, Malaysia and Philippines. From Middle east- Iran only (but very little). From whole African continent i see only some south African bloggers. Finally in Australia yes it is true, blogging has peaked up quite a ground already. Whole South American continent is still out of blogosphere (only Orkut blogging, if you can say that is really a blogging). This is not just wild guess and assumption, stroll around blogosphere-MySpace, Blogger and all other community, you will found how true it is.
If those analysts wants to consider the whole world is just North America, Europe and Australia, by ignoring two third of the world, yes blogging has peaked up.
