Wednesday Roundup - Moving to Fridays!

Wednesday, June 6th, 2007

Yeah, I’m all about the shakeup. We’re moving the weekly roundup to Fridays now, and the TalkBack thread will now happen on Tuesdays, starting next week. So, this week, no “Talk Back.” I’m going to refocus this blog’s scope in the upcoming weeks - after brainstorming a bit this coming weekend - and want to make sure I continue those two features. I may well be moving to more frequent but shorter posts.

I’ll keep you posted!

Get Paid For Goofing Off - Seriously!

Saturday, May 19th, 2007

This sounded like one of those “too good to be true” things at first, but the more I looked into it, the more it looks legit. So, I’m going to let you all in on a cool little “secret” - AGLOCO. It stands for A GLObal COmmunity, and it wants to pay you for the time you spend surfing the ‘Net. Up to five hours per month. But that’s not all - it also wants to pay you for all the people you send its way who sign up to get paid likewise - no limit - as well as for all the people those people refer - up to five degrees of separation away.

Think about that for a second, and let it sink in.

It requires you to download a toolbar - no malware, no spyware - and when you’re ready to start the clock on your monthly five hours, just open it up. It sits at the bottom of the screen and displays ads (which you ignore) and monitors your usage for its advertiser and marketer subscribers. (The toolbar’s in beta right now but will be available soon.)

Now, I signed up - and this is my referral link, of course - but I haven’t been doing it long enough to get paid. So, I’m going to monitor the activity and the whole experience, and blog about it further. Everything I’ve read about it, though, seems completely legit.

But in the meantime, looks like you’ve got nothing to lose and a lot to gain - go ahead and try it now! Click here to sign up for AGLOCO.

New Year’s Resolutions

Monday, January 1st, 2007

Happy new year to everyone. May 2007 brings you prosperity and happiness to your life. Well some people might consider Baby-New-Yearsetting a New Year’s resolutions is too lame idea, for me I found it effective over the years. Setting a target keeps me going, it’s gives me spirit for working hard (keep me on course) to get to my targets. Well wise people says “if you don’t have a goal, you have nothing”. Yes it’s true we don’t know the future, some situation might trigger change of plan even addition or subtraction too. But if you have a plan it easier to coup up with your goals, as well as unforeseen circumstances.

So as a part of setting goals for 2007, I put a list of resolutions for “Blog News Watch”, which will help me provide more productive news and information to readers. My New year resolutions for “Blog News Watch”—

  • Minimum 730 posts at a rate of 60 posts per month containing decent full length information.
  • Each week at least one analytic article featuring state of blogosphere/social networking. You will find that under 451 Weekly Chit-chat.
  • Each week I will open an open discussion article, where everyone can contribute their opinion on discussed topic. At the end of the week I will add all the comment(s) that added value to discussion to the main article. Purpose of this kind of article is to collect opinions(not just vote) which will help blogosphere.
  • I am adding up a category called “Lost Treasure“, which will feature weekly one blog from any corner of blogoshere. The purpose is giving reader access to good quality blogs that hidden behind SEO/marketing/Advertisement obstacles. You can submit your entry through contact form(add Lost Treasure Entry on the subject) every week from Monday through Friday. The eligibility requirement for “Lost Treasure” blog entries–
    • Blog must be in English, subject line can be anything. Sorry for general readers I have to make it English only.
    • Blog does not contain Nudity/adult content, hatred(Criticism is fine but not bluntly expressing hatred) or racism.
    • Blog is more then four months old, publicly accessible, contain regular entries, and Google page rank is zero.
    • Blogger observe general blogging ethics (No Plagiarism,No spam, free flow of comments etc.).
    • The blog has not been featured previously in “Lost Treasure”.

There are some more resolution, but I decided to keep it simple for the mean time. All these resolution can see the lights of success, if and only if you the readers become active, contribute your valuable opinions. Happy reading through out the year.

An Aussie blog conference

Monday, December 25th, 2006

I always has great respect for Aussie bloggers, it’s not just because I have quite a few close friends from Australia, but the contribution of Aussie bloggers to blogosphere. Darren Rowse, Duncan Riley, Martin Neumann,Des Walsh… so many great blogger came from the land down under. Aussie’s are certainly most blogoholic (in creative way) then any others in the world.

The Aussie’s has “tentatively” announced an Australian blogging conference, due March 8, 2007. The conference will be backed by Queensland University of Technology and ARC Centre of Excellence for Creative Industries and Innovation. The conference will be held in Brisbane,Queensland. As the organizer, Peter Black indicated—

This will not be a conference in the traditional sense. It will be relatively informal. Instead of lengthy presentations, people will be invited lead discussions on various topics throughout the day – some practical, such as how to build a better blog, and some theoretical on the role, influence and future of blogs.

There worn’ be any registration fees to attend this conference. The organizer,Peter Black also seeking for sponsors. Any organization wanting to connect with the Aussie blogosphere, the university sector etc - should contact Peter at p2.black@qut.edu.au.

Shiny Blogger Star C Foster passed away

Monday, December 11th, 2006

Blogger Star C Foster died during the weekend for a pulmonary embolism caused by a tumor in her leg. Star C Foster was well known for her humorous & geeky blogging in Shiny Shiny, Girl’s Gadget guide blog. She also co-edited the Phillyist and contributed to The Bitter Quill writers’ blog, as well as numerous other writing and blogging projects.

Shiny Shiny won’t have any post today because of this. Though i am not a very regular reader of Shiny Shiny but quite often i used to read her own personal blog Sarcasmo’s Corner, where her last entry was Friday December 7, 2006. My condolence to her friends and family for this sad moment. Blogsphere will miss a good contributor indeed.
