Best influential bloggers of 2006
Well this is almost end of year 2006, which has been full of heart pounding blogging action. Blogosphere has achieved recognition as source of viable information and news sourcing. It is about time to pay tribute to bloggers who has spent their time, resources and money and bring blogosphere at this state. So I decided to put a list of top ten most influential blogger of 2006. They not only influence blogosphere but also their contribution to blogosphere is enormous. The factors that I counted to pick these bloggers are-Global audience target, credibility, feed subscriptions, unique visits-page view ratio, comments and interval of blog postings. Without further due let us go down to the list of these blogging heroes—
Darren Rowse: A man whose contribution to blogosphere is simply outstanding. This 34 year old Australian living in Melbourne has been blogging since way back 2002. He is most probably well renowned for his Problogger.net that has given startup & entrepreneur blogger unlimited resources. In 2006, nothing changed for Darren, seamless articles with information and resources for bloggers are always his priorities. In fact Darren’s problogger.net can be considered as lighthouse of blogosphere. If you get lost in blogosphere, don’t know what to do, where to start—Darren is there for you. So not surprisingly he is top of the list of 2006 most influential blogger.
Duncan Riley: Another Australian, who is known for his many accomplishment. Former vice president & one of the founding partner of b5Media and the creator of Blog Herald, Duncan is a pioneer in Australian politics on the Internet writing. The man who has major contribution to bring b5Media huge VC funding and the making it one of the largest blog network in the world. Though Duncan left b5Media, but his accomplishment and contribution to blogosphere is simply ignorable. He continues his input to blogosphere with his own blog till now. Bloggers like Duncan made the world recognize blog as a medium of information exchange, so definitely he shouldn’t be left alone from this list.
Liz Strauss: She has so many accomplishments that the list would be huge. “Liz? Strauss has worked over 20 years in print, software, and online publishing, in roles such as VP and Publisher. She has also worked with small companies making acquisitions, companies in crisis, and corporate giants such as Pearson, Reed Elsevier, and Wolters Kluwer. Today, Liz is a writer, career coach, and strategic planner with a focus on corporate blogging and strategic marketing. Unlike most business-oriented blogs, it’s more then just hard cold business in Liz’s blog. You will notice sense of community, and active its readership in Liz’s blog. You will be surprised her blog is just a year old, and in a year she already given blogosphere a lot.
John Evans: The man behind Syntagma Media the blog network which is in the middle of re-branding to Network Magazine. He is an author of a few out-of-print books and a journalist on many topics of contemporary interest. John Evans who is from United Kingdom brings the flavor of print media into the net. Regardless of his criticized announcement of “Syntagma Media is a Network Magazine not a blog network?, he is a great author and resourceful contributor to blogosphere. He has his own quality and uniqueness in writing, which impresses lots of readers.
Thord Daniel Hedengren: He is known as TDH mostly. Former columnist at Blog Herald, now writing for 901am and editor in chief of Bloggertalks along with many other. Probably his greatest contribution of 2006 would be Bloggertalks.com. Bloggertalks was founded by TDH along with Tony Hung just few months ago, which brings intimate interview of successful bloggers twice in a week. This multitalented Swedish is also a game designer, aspiring novelist, amateurish lyric-writer and not to mention a hard core blog designer.
Aaron Brazell: The technosailor famous Aaron is an Author, Consultant and a serious techno Geek. He is the Technology Channel Editor and Technology Manager for b5media. I know every one says the best tech blogs are gizmodo, and etc, but this geek has proven to be provider of viable and resourceful techno posts along with humor. Aaron’s contribution to blogosphere, especially as a tech blogger is outstanding.
Matthew Cerrone: The famous sports blogger who runs MetsBlog one of the largest sports blogs on the ‘net. He’s also been featured in the mainstream media, such as ESPN, and quoted in the print publications such as the New York Times. He started MetsBlog as a project in a digital media class in college. Now the site can reach close to 70,000 in a day. Matthew worked as a media relations consultant, helping politicians, authors and entertainers craft press releases, talking points prior to making blog as full time profession. No other sports blogger has so much influence over blogosphere; in fact he already influenced mainstream media too.
David Krug: David Krug is best known for founding the site Jack of All Blogs and handling the sale of the Blog Herald. He currently runs the blog consulting agency Hello Cowboy, after selling Problogging.com to BlogMedia Inc. This guy is tangled up with blogs history. In the Fall of 2006 he disappeared in Mexico after relocating there and spent 10 Days in a Mexican Prison on false charges. You can read that story here.
Lorelle VanFossen: She puts an amazing amount of work into compiling information for users, not only for WordPress, but other blogging sites. Blogging for over twelve years before the term “blog? was developed, Lorelle is also involved with WordPress as a volunteer helping to write and develop the WordPress Codex and assisting others on the WordPress Forum. She is a public speaker, instructor, writer, and consultant on web writing, web design, and blogging, especially working with WordPress. Lorelle also is a professional nature photographers and writers presenting workshops and programs on travel, writing, and nature photography. You can know more about her in here.
David J. Peralty: Owner of Digital Life News with over a year of successes with various content sites. From dealing with content management, to working on developing the sites using PHP/mySQL and publishing systems like WordPress and MovableType. He is a Canadian and well known for CMS (Blog) design. He has been involved with famous projects like bloggy network, dailypixel, celebrity cowboy just to name a few in his long list of work.
I left out some of the bloggers even though they have high traffic and large number of readers for several reasons like- controversial, arrogance, lack of credibility and last but not the least poor/lack of response to their readers. I list down these top ten bloggers, that doesn’t mean I am ignoring other bloggers. Every bloggers contribution is counted in blogosphere, since i consider blogging as a team play rather then solo ego endeavor.
