BBC moves to file sharing
BBC announced that episodes of BBC programs will be made available on a file-sharing network for the first time. The move follows a deal between the commercial arm of the organization, BBC Worldwide, and technology firm Azureus. The agreement means that users of Azureus‘ Zudeo software (for high definition video) in the US can download titles such as Fawlty Towers.

Paolo Alto based Azureus is one of the most popular Internet peer-to-peer platforms, with millions of active users. Earlier this month Azureus launched a video sharing site similar to YouTube, called Zudeo. The site allows users to upload and view content. However, unlike most video sharing sites, Zudeo offers high definition videos. Users must also download a program to access and upload content. This deal between Azureus and BBC means that users of the software will be able to download high-quality versions of BBC programs.
The titles will be protected by digital rights management software to prevent the programs being traded illegally on the Internet. There was no announcement regarding, how much user would be charged for downloading those videos.
